Day 4 started with sunny skies, no threat of rain, and no major court-cleaning issues (see Day 3!). It was the first day of the ITF J100 main draw competition, which featured some long matches under cooler, but slightly breezy conditions.

Newsworthy story: Tournament Director Max Korkh talks NBSPO

Also on deck on Day 4, the U12 and U14 Selection Series players got their first taste of NBSPO tournament action. These were determined young athletes who came out to play some great tennis! Many of these players know each other from local tournament play, so there was lots of off court interaction as friends were reacquainted. NTRP continued in the evening with many competitors vying to make it to the next round.

One of the day’s highlights was the buzz around Jagger Leach, the number one seed in the ITF J100. Jagger has what can only be described as a tennis pedigree. He is the son of former world number one and three time Grand Slam winner, Lindsay Davenport and is the nephew of Rick Leach, a doubles specialist with five Grand Slam titles among his collection.  Jagger kindly agreed to an interview with CTV news to answer some questions. At just 16 years old, Jagger shows a maturity in front of the camera and handles the attention with grace. For the full interview, tune it to CTV’s morning news on Thursday, July 13 to find out a bit more about this up-and-coming young player.
