Day 9 brought ball kids to the Park for the ITF singles finals. If you were near the court early, before match play got going, you would have seen a team of exceptionally well-trained kids being put through their paces.

There’s no doubting the professionalism of these kids some of whom were part of the ball crew for the Laver Cup last summer, as well as the Bilie Jean King Cup the previous year.

The ITF players also demonstrated a level of professionalism over the course of their event, with many tough battles and all the ups and downs that come with any tennis tournament. The singles finals were a fitting end to a great week of tennis for the J100 ITF.

Vancouver’s MOVE 103.5 was broadcasting live from Stanley Park today, featuring interviews with Tennis BC’s Executive Director, Jonathan Wornell, Tournament Director, Iverson Guan, Tennis BC’s Communication and Media Coordinator, Kalea Pieroelie, National Bank’s Simon Tobin, Ankora Retaining Wall’s Jeff Baumann, players Spencer and Marshall Mackoff, and player and volunteer, Aska Nakamura.

Planned for Saturday at 1:00, the Fastest Serve competition experienced technical difficulties when the machine used the gauge the speed of the serves refused to work! Thank you to those who came out to test their speediest serves – but it was not to be!

Open qualifying began today too, running through all the daylight available, alongside the NTRP Main Draw matches.
