Day 4 and the heat is still on. ITF J100 players began their Main Draw play with Girls’ Singles and Boys’ Doubles taking to the courts. Also on the junior side of play, the U12 / U14 Selection Series # 2 got under way.

The heat took its toll on some players, and it seemed to be making the ever-present herons grumpy too as they squabbled raucously amongst themselves! The nesting herons are a unique feature at Stanley Park for sure – even if an umbrella is sometimes needed to safely walk under the nests!

At 5:00 pm, NTRP matches started, with the last match ending close to 9:30 again. It was a great day for tennis at the park! CTV came down again to interview Regional Manager for National Bank Financial, Benjamin West who discussed the Play Your Court initiative and the resurfacing of the Stanley Park Courts last year.

Sponsor of the Day: National Bank

Thanks to the generosity and support of National Bank, local communities across the country can apply to receive funding to revitalize their outdoor community tennis courts. In August 2022, National Bank and Tennis Canada joined forces to launch the program, aiming to make tennis more accessible for all Canadians.
