Day 4 was action packed, featuring the first round of the ITF Junior category, the 3.5 Star Juniors and adults’ NTRP. Girls’ singles ITF action started with the round of 32, while the boys got the doubles portion underway. Lots of local players were on deck and many international competitors from Japan, Mexico, Austria and the US took to the courts. The tennis today was high level and only promises to get better as the tournament progresses.
Also part of the junior competitive tennis structure, the 128 registered 3.5 Star U12s and U14s got off to a great start. This is the third biggest junior event in BC and there was a strong local showing as COVID recovery continues in local tennis numbers!
Adult play resumed at 5:00 p.m. with the continuation of the NTRP categories. The evening wound down with another beautiful sunset.
Volunteers keep things running smoothly
A huge shout out goes to the fantastic crew of volunteers today and every day. They’re a huge part of why matches are running on time and are an indispensable, behind-the-scenes cog in the Tennis BC tournament machine. Set up and take down has been flawless! We couldn’t do without the Tournament Desk staff, the Welcome Desk staff and the Court Monitors. They make everything happen and make everyone welcome.
